Bullers Wood School For Boys

Transition - Year 6 to Year 7

The process of joining secondary school can be daunting for both students and parents alike.

Summer Term - Year 6

Once your son is accepted into Bullers Wood School for Boys, we will write to you requesting information regarding your son. This will include key information such as contact details and medical information, but also regarding language choice and other students he may know.

From May, the new Year 7 team will begin visits to as many local secondary schools as they can to meet incoming students in person and answer any questions they may have.

We take part in the Bromley Secondary School Induction Day, when all students in Bromley Primary schools have the opportunity to attend their secondary school for the day. Students take part in a range of lessons and activities, whilst getting to meet fellow boys who will be in their form group, their form teacher and

Shortly after the Induction Day, we host an Information Evening for new Year 6 parents with key members of staff to provide you with further details about your son's transition and life at BWSfB. Our PTA, uniform suppliers and PE kit suppliers are normally on hand to help you order and try on clothing too.

Summer Holidays

All new Year 7 students are invited to our 'Summer school' which normally takes place in the penultimate week of the summer holidays. This event is normally really well attended, and provides boys with the opportunity to get to know others in their form group and year group, begin to build friendships ahead of September, begin to form relationships with staff and grow in confidence at knowing their way around the school building.

The three day summer school consists of a wide range of fun activities put on by school staff including yoga, team building, arts and crafts, music, chess, coding and cooking. Information on signing up for summer school will be sent out in the summer term.

Autumn Term - Year 7

A few weeks into the Autumn term, we will invite Year 7 parents in for a Coffee afternoon to ask any questions they may have about the school so far, and to meet their son's form tutor. This is a relaxed and informal event but we encourage as many parents as possible to attend.

Shortly before the Christmas break, we will host Year 7 parents' evening, a chance for Year 7 parents to meet with their son's teachers across a wide range of subjects. This provides parents with the opportunity to get feedback on how their son is doing in different areas of the school.
